Glenmorangie 18 Year Old is a highly regarded single malt scotch whisky. To make this expression of rare finesse, the distillery has matured its spirit for 15 years in American white oak casks. Then they transferred about 30% of the whisky to Spanish Oloroso casks to age it for another three years. This patient maturation ensures a rich flavour.
When the two liquids have aged for 18 years, they are brought together and blended again to create a whisky with a rich bouquet and a full-bodied, robust palate. Glenmorangie's expertise has resulted in a whisky of incredible vibrancy where the sweetness and richness of the sherry is softened by the nutty notes imparted by the American oak.

Nose: The first nose of Glenmorangie 18 Year Old is directly reminiscent of the abundance of exquisite food resting on the table at a harvest dinner. Creamy, sweet vanilla melts into citrus aromas (lemon, orange). Honey, walnuts and dates complete these autumnal floral sensations with a beautiful bouquet of jasmine, narcissus and geranium. The addition of water reveals a sumptuous basket of ripe apricots, dates and hazelnuts.
Palate: Silk... A full, round flavour profile: fresh grapefruit and orange give way to a charming combination of melting honey, flowers and nuts from the Oloroso Sherry casks in which this malt has aged. A rich delight of dates and figs recall the flavours of autumn and are accompanied by pleasant smoky notes.
Finish: The finish is long and lingers with sweet dried fruit and the dry but subtle character of the Oloroso with nutty accents.
