The DIR-100 Router has been designed to allow a group of users to share a broadband Internet connection via a DSL or cable modem. You get a low cost/high performance solution for sharing a broadband Internet connection. This will allow you to build a network where several people can simultaneously browse the web, chat online and share resources, for a minimal investment. High performance, the DIR-100 broadband router takes advantage of the latest chipset design that combines very high performance with a lower cost base. Quality of Service (QoS). It supports Quality of Service (QoS), prioritising delay-sensitive traffic such as Internet telephony, multimedia streaming or online gaming. This allows users to enjoy smooth connectivity without the effects of network congestion. For total network security, the DIR-100 router features a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall for protection against Internet denial of service (DoS) attacks. SPI inspects the contents of all incoming packet headers before deciding which packets are allowed to pass. Access control is provided with packet filtering based on port number and source/destination MAC/IP addresses. With Virtual Server Mapping, only specific services on a local server, such as Web, FTP or games, can be made accessible from the Internet, ensuring that the rest of the machine remains protected from hackers. If necessary, one of the router's built-in LAN ports can function as a DMZ port. Parental controls allow parents and network administrators to filter out inappropriate URLs, block domains and control when to allow Internet use depending on the time of day.
