Toghu is a traditional fabric from the Bamenda region of North West Cameroon. It is basically a royal fabric worn by chiefs and notables, both men and women. It is made of black velvet on which are hand-embroidered motifs and decorations with yellow, red and white thread.

This fabric was used to make this sleeveless half-boubou. On the collar and the bottom of the tunic, we find regular and rectilinear embroideries. On the tunic itself, the embroidery takes the form of various motifs: circles, abstract forms...

Over time, the use of the toghu spread beyond the chieftainship and the notables to also concern the people who wore it in festive circumstances.
